Painting in Oxford and Beyond

Working mostly outdoors, with paints and a palette knife

I began painting at a young age, experimenting with whatever materials I could find—pencil, watercolour, acrylic, coloured inks, and eventually my favourite medium, oil. A pivotal moment in my artistic journey came as a young boy when I visited The Tate Gallery with my mum. I was deeply moved by an exhibition of JMW Turner and his work left a lasting impression on me.

Although I was offered a place to study fine art at The Slade School of Art, I chose instead to follow a career in architecture. For 25 years, I ran my own practice in London and Oxford, completing numerous residential projects.

Now, I’ve returned to painting full-time, working from a studio in my back garden in Oxford. My inspirations include Vincent Van Gogh, JMW Turner, Whistler, The Fauves, Matisse, Cornish Art, and The Scottish Colourists.

My work is featured in homes around the world, in cities such as Paris, Milan, New Zealand, Washington DC, Cape Town, San Francisco, Corsica, Scotland, Berlin, Istanbul, Sri Lanka, Copenhagen, Oxford, and London.
